What's On

The events listed below were taking place before tier 4 restrictions applied. It's likely that most will resume once they are permitted to. We also host many events that aren't listed here.

At 5th Jan 2021 we are under Tier 4 restrictions.

This means that we can only open for permitted activities. Here is the information from gov.uk:-

Community facilities in COVID alert level: Stay at Home (Tier 4) areas must close unless they are venues used for providing a small number of exempt activities, including:

  • support groups
  • childcare provided by a person who is registered under Part 3 of the Childcare Act 2006 or supervised activities for children
  • education or training
  • providing essential voluntary services or public support services, including digital access to public services, medical treatment, the provision of food bank or other support for the homeless or vulnerable people, blood donation services or support in an emergency
  • voting, counting of votes or activities ancillary to voting or the counting of votes in an election or referendum

Being a Covid - 19 secure building, there are some other activities that are permitted.

These include:-

  • the purposes of formal education or training
  • support groups
  • registered childcare or supervised activities for children
  • wedding ceremonies, funerals and wakes (numerical limits must be adhered to)

And also these are permitted in any business that is closed:-

From gov.uk... As well as specific exemptions as set out in their relevant section, any closed premises can open for the purposes of:

  • providing essential voluntary or public services (including the provision of food banks or other support to the homeless or vulnerable, hosting blood donation sessions, or support in an emergency)
  • making a film, television programme, audio programme or audio-visual advertisement
  • voting or related activities (except for in closed shops)
  • enabling access by the site owners or managers, staff or people authorised by them (including volunteers) for maintenance where this is reasonably necessary. This may include exhibit maintenance, animal or plant feeding, or repairs. Other work to ensure readiness to open, such as receiving deliveries of supplies, may also go ahead

Special Events and Short Courses

Learn to Play the Bodhran (Irish drum) | Next beginners course starts Spring 2021, date  / time TBA

£75 including refreshments  | Please get in touch to register your interest, places are limited

A five week course to get you started playing this fabulous drum. You'll be learning in a small group and the course is suitable for absolute beginners. Drums are provided if you need to borrow one (deposit required). It covers all the foundations - how to hold the stick and the drum, basic strokes, and jig and reel rhythms. No musical knowledge needed. The course is taught by experienced percussionist and tutor Sue Szymanski (The Floozies, CBT, Bophouseblue) and was developed in response to comments that many online tutorials can move things forward too quickly, and don't allow enough time for techniques to 'bed in'. Advance bookings only please, suitable for ages 16+.
